Hellbound

"I loved how it came together"

submission: Hellbound
date: December 17, 2005

I think if you were to seperate everything (the music graphics, etc) and analyze them individually, I probably wouldn't be particularly interested (except maybe for the music, I tend to fall for oldschool video game music), but the fact that that was all jumbled up together in the same flash made it perfect. I felt bad for devlin T_T. But yeah, I think what made me really like it was the music, it really got me into it; any site you got it off of?

Author's Response:

Thanks :)

I made the music myself, I think I'll put the modules on my site today ;)

You're obviously very good at Flash, no doubt about that. But as far as this flash goes, I may have been entertained (I particularly liked the first scene with the strange interrogation), but I think the sense of confusion outbalanced that pleasure. Perhaps you could create a link to lead to a site with a small explanation on it (unless it's just a random cartoon like the Salad Fingers series). All in all, I find this work somewhat ambiguous, but still very, um, professional in a sense.

Grave 2

"maybe not an artistic achievement..."

...but it was definitely good as a first person shooter, which in my opinion, we don't have enough of on NG. There were only two things that bugged me: the fact that the stronger weapons (i.e. shotgun + machine gun) have no ammo limit made the handgun kind of useless. The other thing was the ending, I didn't get it. So yeah, good job, but keep working at it (can't wait to see the third one).

Author's Response:

Thanks for the good review. You'll have to wait a while for the 3rd one because I'm currently working on some really great 2d sidescrollers. Again, thanks for the review.
